Re: Westside approach Panamint Dunes - unexpected geology

Very nice videos; thank you for posting them. One of these days, I'm going to get to the dunes. You'd think, with me being out there frequently, I'd have done it already.

Re: Edmunds tests Honda Ridgeliner in DV

Ahh, yes, the times before Gomer, when I had to beg for something 1/4 capable offroad from the rental companies. I sure don't miss playing "rental SUV Roulette"

Re: Edmunds tests Honda Ridgeliner in DV

Once, trying to keep up with a group of board members after dark in ‘08 heading to PSR after running Lippincott, I broke my practice and ran at a speed where the ride, racket and control were seriously compromised. I had changed into flip flops and more comfy clothes at the junction of Lippencott/S...

Re: Edmunds tests Honda Ridgeliner in DV

I was probably in front of or behind Bricker during much of his "Exhaustive Research" and I can vouch for his conclusions. Too many trips across West Side road and/or out passed Homestake dry camp to count. Bricker once rode shotgun with myself when we broke the land speed record from Ballarat to C...

Re: Edmunds tests Honda Ridgeliner in DV

Wow, a quote from something I said 13 years ago! And I still stick to that adage. I wrote this mainly for the folks that try to go 30-40mph on the Racetrack Road in an ill equipped vehicle, like, well, the folks in the video. If you're blowing out shocks on the Racetrack Road, you are likely running...

Re: DVTalk forum at deathvalley.com ?

Candace, try logging in over there again. I've issued a reset password required. IF that doesn't work, and I reset your account to a temporary password, and email it to you. Please also confirm your email address.

Re: DVTalk forum at deathvalley.com ?

Hi Candace;

You may have sent me a message, but I can't find it. Please resend. I am doing the admin work for that board, and should be able to reset your id and password.

Unfortunately, I can't even LOOK at some of the threads!
We're aware of the issue on pv.com, and are working on a solution. Unfortunately, the solution may take some time, and a fair bit of resources, so there is not timetable at this point.

PanamintValley.com Site

Thanks! So, even the people (PSR) who run an old school chat forum, prefer to communicate via Facebook? ;-) :-P there is no mention of Thanksgiving 2017 on the DV Talk forum. DV Talk is not actively monitored by PSR, and is not generally used as a communication tool. Having said that, I should post...

I was going to post this over at PanamintValley. Com, but that site appears to be down for some reason?
Update over there as well. It's back up and running.

Was out at PSR over the 4th of July weekend, and the week prior. It had cooled off, and as such was only 116 or so.

Heading to Lost Wages on the 8th of July, the FC Visitor Center "unofficial" sign board showed 128.

And my darling son made me help him pour concrete that week!

Candace, whoever drew this map is as overly optimistic as in my area. My house shows full coverage, and I can't get a signal even with a tailwind. PSR has no signal, Trona has no signal. You can get a bit of signal on a good day, down around Minietta Rd on the Panamint Valley Road. David Bricker / SYR

I'd put that tent's age around 1960 or so. I've camped in one like it before, and hopefully never again. I still recall my dad warning me not to touch the fabric when it was raining, or it would leak at that spot.

Passenger cars routinely go to the Pinnacles from the north, so no issue there. Coming in from the south, I'd agree with the previous post. It's well traveled by ATVs, so you may find some issue with the width of the tracks, but keeping your momentum up through any soft sand will be wise. I would no...

Re: At&t strong cell service at Stovepipe Wells

On June 21st I texted and made phone call with iPhone 6 just 100 yards west of General Store in Stovepipe. I hope the cell service is there to stay. Nice not to drive around seeking a sweet spot. Whadda ya say we don't tell any of our employers about this, eh? I prefer to leave my out of office mes...
