Re: Ghost Town for sale

Cerro Gordo now in escrow. Keeler lines are mineral mining on the dry lake surface, which has been going on since the late 1800s.

Re: Help

I generally do it manually, by typing image tags:

Note: I left a space in the last image tag so that this site doesn’t interpret and display an empty image box.

Re: May 2018 trip

Superb photography. The land and atmosphere cooperated with you well. I believe the Hunter cabin is shown on topo maps, but don’t have one to check presently. Looking at Google Maps in satellite view, find Hunter Spring and the cabin shows plainly a stone’s throw northwest. Thanks! But now I am rea...

Re: May 2018 trip

One day I should learn more about Beatty history. I doubt it's only function has been as a DV portal for its entire existence. Beatty as a community got its start early in the first decade of the 20th century during the fantastic Bullfrog rush. Beatty likely survived, unlike nearby Rhyolite, due to...

Re: May 2018 trip

My favorite shot with a rock and a track in it I cant even use because the bottom of the rock gets cropped out when I straighten the photo out. Does anyone know how I might copy or fill in some of the playa so that I can keep the whole rock when I rotate the photo? In Photoshop, my first thought wo...

First, the bathtub full of blue marbles is a joke, albeit a very well executed one!
My dim memory tells me that the late Wendel Moyer hauled in the tub around 1964, but my memory is dimming.

Re: Marble Bath

Up in the higher reaches of the Steel Pass area there is a now closed track that runs toward the Last Chance range from the Steel Pass road. I went in there once, on a fool's quest for a route up Dry Mtn. That road ends at the mouth of a canyon. A few hundred yards in is a highly water polished lim...

Re: Marble Bath

There seems to be confusion as to Marble Bath. A natural feature named such was featured in journals of the first Caucasian government explorers in the mid-1800s, but to my knowledge it has never been found. The current Marble Bath was placed a hundred yards from the road just south of Steel Pass in...

Re: Lippincott Rd

Tight in one spot where the road is sloughing away in the bottom half. Possible two point turns in the switchbacks. A spotter helps.

Re: Burro Relocation

Back in pre-politically correct days, residents in Trona, Inyokern, Ridgecrest, Panamint Valley and mine camps in the canyons and ranges would slaughter and butcher a burro now and then. Fried burro liver and eggs for breakfast and “burro-tos” were among favorite meals. Probably helped keep some che...

Re: Eureka Dunes May 10th-11th 2018 Photo Shoot

The road from Big Pine is paved to the floor of Eureka Valley, maintained dirt thereafter. Unless the weather screws things up, there will be nothing physically to stop your motorhome. However, some things to watch out for. * The road over the Inyos is narrow in places with narrow shoulders and ofte...

I’m not good with trees. Having lived the majority of my life in lands with few to no trees, I can’t see the forest for the trees ... :dezdan:
