Rood Rock cannot be found because the inscription on it was deemed non-historic with no story to tell.

EVERY site has a story to tell, At this site in 1979 Capt. Michael R. Carlson died while serving his country. Personally I find more history in these "n...

This is one of the crash sites I have been looking for ! June 20, 1997; California ANG F-16C, BuNo 84-1255 crashed near the Saline Valley, East side of the Inyo Mtns. California. The pilot ejected, but dislocated his elbow. A short time after the crash the pilot was picked up by a NAWC China Lake HH...

It's just a scare tactic, most of the state parks pay for themselves, there are a few that recieve very few vistiors, so close them ! The state's problems are caused by the excessive pensions & benefits paid to the state union workers, same problem that caused the colaspe of Greece. Brown when he wa...

A few encounters with rattlesnakes in the Argus and Panamint Mountains, scorpions in the Argus Mountains, also a sidewinder in the Argus Mountains. I read somewhere that the miners didnt like the Argus Range because of all the snakes. Saw a big Mountain Lion print NE of Lost Burro Gap. Also been hea...

Been to that area years ago, lots to explore if you get out on foot. I didnt care for the lower road, seemed to take forever, and when I was there the road would disapear in the wash and would have to search for it. I assume it's more traveled these days. Isn't it a bit hot to go hiking there now? h...

Looks like telephone wire, no idea, should walk it and find where it goes :) Wonder if it went to the early Stovepipe Village from Darwin? The old toll road, I have been on sections of it, I would love to hike it some day. There are some old cars on it and a Cessna 150 at the section I was at. ~Lewis

Candace, would need more info on just where you found this cable. was it along the old toll road that parallels the 190? I have found the old Rhyolite Skidoo cable on the south side of the 190, west of Stovepipe wells. The cable was on the ground, and found the stumps of the old poles. This phone li...

Years ago they closed the park, I it was just before Thanksgiving. The roads thru the park were open, (190) but you were not allowed to stop. Waited out the closure and came into the park once it was announced that the parks were open. I dont remember what year it was, but it wasnt that long ago. ~L...
