[quote=Kauri post_id=76502 time=1580787569 user_id=20818 Only twice as many possibly hikes as you'll have time for?! I usually end up planning at least ten times as many hikes as we can do. But that's probably because the list consists of whatever is left over from the previous trip that did...

Re: Retired Ranger Jay Snow Says It Best

Whoa, if Jay kept all the old teakettles... Now that is cool, no? No grand kids here although, not holding breath, my daughter (now 33) did start talking about having a baby when she visited yesterday, so, maybe... :) She when out with me for years but hasn't been out there in about 20. Well she's b...

Re: Retired Ranger Jay Snow Says It Best

Nice find! I know the feeling he expresses. My first trip out there was early 1991 with my 3 1/2 yr old daughter. Just her. It was our first trip (of many) alone together. We came out together every year, for a long time. I would always tell he how good it made me feel to be there, and would listen ...

Re: Nov 14-17 trip. Artist Dr, Chloride City to Keane parking lot, Defense mine, and Golden canyon

I'll have to look in my old scanned images to see if I have a pic; probably do. As for the couple... Well they did get divorced some years later, and she died about 5 years ago. She (Twylla) helped me print some of my panos on a roll paper printer she had when I visited San Diego at some point and I...

Re: Feb 27-March 1

My wife points out that her memory was that there were a few places I was rather slow on that exit wash, with some drops right near the end (as you go down) toward the confluence. Now I have knee issues so I can't bend them as far as some people and that certainly slowed me. I have no idea of your a...

Re: Nov 14-17 trip. Artist Dr, Chloride City to Keane parking lot, Defense mine, and Golden canyon

Sure :) I was coming coming out every January with my young daughter, and there was a group of photographers from San Diego who were on a similar schedule, so we would hang out in the evenings at SPW and do some hiking with the more active members of their crew some days. The organizer and his partn...

Re: Feb 27-March 1

I went to the Ashford camp last year, after having previously visited 25 years earlier. I was pleased to find it still in good shape. Digonett describes a number of short spurs from the camp to other mines and viewpoints in the immediate area, but we were on the way back from trying to climb Ashford...

Really nice set of pix. That's a lot of low elevation snow! Looks like you made things work despite what must have been cold nights and cool days. Thanks for posting!

Re: April 1 to 6

I'll be out in March and Moonlight is on my short list. I have wandered around the mouth looking at other things, but not gone up the canyon. I'll be torn between trying to hoof it up to the main narrows, or going into the side canyon to see the bridge. I don't think I can do both in a day hike, can...

Re: Jets at Star Wars canyon

I have. There are no signs indicating not to, though I think water for PSR comes from some place up in there.

I've been in the water at the SPW swimming pool :)

The pools in Saline Valley are in the park.

(I assume you're talking about a pool for at least partial immersion?)

Candace, how would you describe that road in from 95? Rough but sedan, HC, or 4WD? Thanks!
