Re: What is it, and/or where is it?

The old rock building is about three miles up Virgin Spring Canyon from the trailhead parking area. There are other old rock structures there but the one in the photo is the best one. They are shown as "ruins" on the topo map. Digonnet talks about this site in the Virgin Spring Canyon chapter of "H...

Re: Camping near Confidence Hills

At the north end of the Wade Road, there is still a no-camping sign. However, the camping rules currently posted on the website don't seem to preclude camping along the Wade Road:

Re: What is it, and/or where is it?

Is this on the north side of the pass where the cutoff road from NV 160 to Tecopa climbs a pass in the Nopah range? Someone built a memorial up there at some time and I might have seen a cross like this a bit uphill, but the date shakes at China Ranch were calling and it was a very hot day... Actua...

Re: What is it, and/or where is it?

I can see in the other threads that some of y'all are visiting the Park. Surely you have photographed something out of the ordinary that you wouldn't mind revealing the location of? ;-) Until someone else makes a contribution here  , I'll bump this thread with a pic of something outside the Pa...

So there are animal tracks in at least one other place than Copper Canyon, interesting and news to me.

How far was your buddy from a known water source? I don't picture a skunk simply getting by hydrating simply by it’s food sources.
It is living near a spring that has a little open water.

The Mt. Perry hike is documented here:

That is the standard route, from Dantes View. When they close the road to start this project, that "trailhead" will be inaccessible.

Re: Dante's Closure

Yes, from the DVNP Facebook page: Greenwater Valley Road will be open. The closure will be on the paved road past the junction with Greenwater Valley Road. Anyone done the cross country hike to Mt. Perry summit from that point? Never heard of it! Hard to find a description of a route other than Dan...

Re: Dante's Closure

I am quite sure Greenwater Valley Road will be open. That would be a really dumb closure. I sure as hell thought it was dumb, that night in 2007! And there was no warning sign back at the other end of the GV Road, where I turned off the Jubilee Pass Road. Dantes View was closed due to snow/ice high...
