In my honest opinion this trip report is impressive. Very nice photos , I would have welcomed a little more commentary. I also thought about how much flak Cleveland was gonna catch for posting it too. I also remember when I became interested in Death Valley. Finding this site and a few others that a...

My wife and I have ridden our mountain bikes up the Lippencott several times after our initial trip in March 2012. The parking spot you have chosen will definitely work and is big enough that you won't be in anybodies way.

Did that hike as a backpack trip in LATE July 2010 , camped the night before at White Top mountain . It was hot but doable . I'm thinking even with an early start , it would be a long day , coming back in the dusk/dark.

July can be very enjoyable at elevation in DV . I'm sure you'll receive some good ideas on this forum . Are you planning on more than 1 hike in the time you will be in DV ?

Very nice canyon indeed , impressive narrows . Any 'coyote' spottings while you were in the area? Rosa and I saw some , when we were coming through last November .

Nice report , I was watching the weather here in SoCal last week hoping some moisture would find it's way to the valley... Great job with the photos , I always do enjoy a Desert 5 Spot ...all to often posters on this forum don't post pictures here preferring we 'visit' their sites instead . I like t...

Haven't been to the Pinnacles in a few years . I'm wondering about the 'big' area . Is that the area with the bathroom in front of the Pinnacles ? And does it still have a few 'fire rings ' scattered around ?

Craig Canyon is my favorite because it can be day hiked from just shortly off Saline Road to well over 5000' , but its not a gimme. http://i60.tinypic.com/11spi11.jpg heres Rosa standing under a GRAND chockstone dryfall. Now this can be bypassed ( but it is risky) and the rewards are cool farther up...

If you're into canyoneering , Beveridge Canyon is a good one to consider. It has a great history , and alot of documentation . As with anything over in the Inyo Range , elevation is a consideration.

My personal favorite is Craig Canyon ...

Re: Badwater condition?

Can't help with the latest meterological conditions at Badwater...but, I will advise this much: do not consider attempting to locate exactly where out there in that basin the lowest point in North America is situated (supposedly -282 feet)--that top secret information is not supposed to be discover...

Cleveland , I have to agree that there probably aren't going to be tour buses loaded with people heading out to UBFC . I even have to agree that it is your option to publish its location despite the FACT that you researched it from a site that SPECIFICALLY guards it. I do trust that people who go vi...

It's funny how this report , excellently documents such a great canyon , continues to bear such poisonous fruit . So even after all the discussion of preserving the location , from this poster , he goes ahead and puts up pictures and location under his name . Discouraging , unfortunately .....

How about thinking of visiting the 'SOUTH ' end of the park ? Maybe in the direction of the Owlsheads . Off pavement there is the Harry Wade Rd . Usually in pretty good shape , provides access in the direction of the Owlsheads , but a lot of stuff to see and hike along the route . Came through that ...

Cleveland , yes i'm aware that we are talking about your Upper Big Fall Canyon report . In my haste i ommitted the proper name in my post . And yes my commentary may have been a little melodramatic. I was discouraged at the blanket statement you made about the anchors being illegally placed . Which ...
