Re: Saline Valley Road Observation

Knowing that they don't do road maintenance means they are out there retrieving a vehicle.

Re: Saline Valley Road Observation

Wonder if they are finally going to get that Ford near Willow Creek and doing the loop.

Re: RIP Death Valley pay phones

Sad to see it gone but I'm glad I got some pics of it when it was there. Another era coming to a close.

Re: Going to an interesting Playa

While searching maps I've always seen playas in various locations. They are interesting.

Re: M 7.1 earthquake in Ridgecrest

Thanks for the news clip. Hadn't seen that as of yet. I'd bet this is the first time the current governor ever heard of Trona.

Sleeping in the Ashram would be an event even without an earthquake. I'm sure it is something you'll never forget.

Re: Death Valley Jim - current status?

Lots of good discourse here. This individual sounds like something I left in a cathole a few days ago. I hope karma deals him what he is due. Sad to see some people fell for his charms and/or even recollect him in a good light.

Re: Death Valley Jim - current status?

I remember reading about him but was never impressed. The fact that he misappropriated photographs is enough for me. Being a photographer all my life to think that someone would steal my work is one reason I rarely post anything of quality anymore. I think I'm wrong but is he the guy who was involve...

Re: Keane Wonder Mine

A few times in the past, we have gone to the registration desk at the Ranch and bought a pool pass for $10. There are showers at the pool. I don't know if they still do this after the renovations. Whaaaaaa ..... that could be a huge game changer for me. I usually bail after a week because I've been...

Re: Keane Wonder Mine

While some may joke about changing the name of the park it happened with "The Oasis" which will always be Furnace Creek for me. Wasn't the lodge name in Yosemite changed as well? History needs to preserved for a reason. Our society today is so quick to attempt to erase history because it is scary an...

Is the one at Grapevine Ranger Station still intact? It was operational this past April when I was out that way.
