Re: DV Reopens - Update video July 2, 2020

Decent gas price! Please tell the Mike Reynolds to please have Texas Springs open when I arrive mid to late October! Much nicer to have my R Pod up there than at FC. I get tired of being the generator monitor at FC! Interesting about take out only. I believe some CA counties still allow it. We have ...

Re: NPS needs help solving backcountry vandalism

From DVFB: https://www.facebook.com/DeathValleyNPS/ "Thank you to everyone that reported tips regarding the "Steve & Lacy" graffiti! Steve is not on social media, but an acquaintance of his saw the story and told him about the public opinions. He called the tip line, confessed, and apologized to the...

3/21-3/29/20...not!

We were supposed to be "trailer camping", Furnace Creek Campground, Death Valley, 3/21-3/29, as we do two times per year. The park closed the main campgrounds on 3/18, leaving only only 4000' elevation hard to reach Wildrose and back county camping open. Then later the park closed many popular parki...

Re: Fatal accident at Manly Beacon

The parks have sent mixed and confusing messages. The park people, someone, closed the park last Saturday morning. Before that, many trails were not closed, just the parking lots. It was still ok, by park rules, to hike those trails. The hiker could have fallen the previous day, or that morning or? ...

Re: Blood thinners

So October 2012 I somehow(excessive neck stretches?) stretched a artery over an arthritic vertebrae and some how tore a two inch tear in the artery, resulting in a internal carotid artery dissection, with horner's syndrome being the symptom. Luckily I caught it in time, clot didn't break and head in...

Re: Salt Creek Source - McLean Spring

We try to do the hike from Salt Creek parking lot to the springs at least once per year. Love valley floor hikes. It's a bit risky as you climb over those soft mud hills as there are steep drop offs to the creek. Last late March we arrived just after the heavy rains and much of the trail along and a...

Re: Joe Moore - Flintknapper nearly dies in RV crash - update

Ah that's why we didn't see him this last last week of October but did see him last week in March 2019. Guess we will try to visit him when we arrive in five weeks again!. Never talked to him...didn't know what he was about! They used to do barbecue dinners once per week on that deck. Is the museum ...

Re: Jets at Star Wars canyon

From the park page: " Please protect this fragile resource. No swimming!"

I know there are signs of course no dogs and to also stay out of the water as it is drinking water for PSR.

The sign says no swimming.

Well you appear to be four years older than me but seem to be in better shape and you have your hair!

Back in nine weeks. Hope it is much warmer than my way too cold and windy last week October trip!

Re: Jets at Star Wars canyon

Are you people sure flights have stopped? I believe it was posted somewhere here that jets were flying in the canyon again as of 9/16, perhaps just not as often. I know there were people up there a couple of months ago sitting around waiting. I believe they said the jets had come through. This was f...

I've seen/heard them a couple of times flying low in the valley at FC. I once thought the other plane was a refueling plane. Thought I saw a fuel line connecting the two but most likely not!

Re: Wildflower potential

Randy these recent fall rains will help with flowers. Now need it to continue into spring, but not during our late annual March trip! This past late March we arrived in the early evening just after all the big rains and road wash outs. We've never seen such sharp, clear and colorful sky/scenes as we...
