Re: Emigrant, Wildrose, South Park, and Warm Springs Roads

I last did it in a 2003 Tundra RWD. Often each wheel was at an different angle/height. Going 5 mph? And of course further up was slipping in the sandy road conditions. I think you need some advice from one who's been there more recent! Now I believe it was March 2011. We were up to the pool most rec...

Re: Emigrant, Wildrose, South Park, and Warm Springs Roads

When we were in the park last week of March I was posting to their FB page a lot with updates/questions as you were too. They have listed this closed for quite awhile but not as specific as they are now! Rental SUV to the Warm Springs houses with the pool? Yeah, that would be fine. The road was pret...

Re: KC's Outpost, Beatty, Nevada

We enjoyed KC's a couple of springs ago. A big carb out but the food was real good, from the turkey sandwich to the homemade cake! Always wondered about the VFW. The food sounds great but the smoking is a deal breaker. Ah yes...it's Nevada! Generallywe don't eat out during our week long trip as I li...

Re: Keane Wonder Mine

Pool pass is $5. If you buy it in the later afternoon one day it generally can be used until 1 pm the next day.

Also you can get another person in with the pass...no one is checking the pool gate..

And I have other secrets...

Some are closed because of rain/mud. Some due to the shut down.

Sure wish I was down there this week/next week. Though I'd have a time putting the r pod somewhere. The open campgrounds aren't too desirable.

Re: Has anyone hiked across DV at Badwater?

I would like to. When it's cooler. We come late March and late October when it is too hot for that. A few years ago in the summer I believe a younger guy tried that, turned round but had run out of water. Died. So he might have been the "one" person that dies every year in DV due to heat. I agree..I...

Hi! Here is from the parks recent Facebook page. Looks like things could be a lot better when you visit. It will be a radial reopening and actual dates haven't been set over the next couple of weeks. https://www.facebook.com/DeathValleyNPS "DEATH VALLEY, CA – Death Valley National Park announced tod...

Re: Snow on Telescope Peak

I am enjoying reading all your posts on hiking this peak. I yet to do it and I have been coming back to DV at least yearly since 2010 after being away for 32 years. I'll be back again this late March but I won't be hiking it then. I'll need to condition more and will do the hike this end of October ...

Re: Park Closure

This has changed. The campgrounds are open but the bathrooms are closed. S fine if you have a trailer, etc.

What a mess. I've heard that earlier people were asked to leave the campgrounds. Now they are open.

Why are they shooting? What purpose? I have met the two police rangers this past late October because there were issues at Texas Springs with weekenders. Maybe they are keeping up with their skills?

Well dumb me. I've most likely seen that car as I've walked around the trail to the dump several times!
