Re: Amateur radio use in DVNP

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eN-L2HFC2RE This is what I use and really does the conversation here no good because they don't make it anymore. This unit uses (2) aa's. I have never used it in a real emergency thank goodness. I use it to let freinds know where I'm spending the night while they sit ...

Re: Amateur radio use in DVNP

I have the very first Model and haven't paid that much attention to battery life. Mine is set to ping every ten minutes and leaving it on full time I know it goes (4) days. It may go longer but I just change batteries when knowing it will be a long trip. Overnighters I just change batteries when it ...

Re: Second canyon south of Monarch: finding the marbles

Great trip report! One thing that scares me is "64-year-old guy with the brains of a senile marmot" I thought I was the only one!

That's right, smoking! I had already decided to try the VFW next week but smoking is a buzzkill.

Re: Backcountry Navigation

I second the positive experience with the Garmin Montana units. It's biggish, heavyish, and somewhat expensive. They can occasionally be found on sale. Oh, and you don't have to use pay-maps on the Garmin. Free topo and other downloads are available at gpsfiledepot.com . I also can vouch for Gaia G...

They hopefully learned from the previous shutdowns and corrected protocol with that earlier experience.

Re: Edmunds tests Honda Ridgeliner in DV

Didn't you just come out of the dark and into the brightside Candice and get a Forerunner. The right tires and the 110" wheel base that thing will right like a dream with a little speed on a straight washboard road.

Re: Edmunds tests Honda Ridgeliner in DV

55-65 mph on straight sections, slow down on bends because of the 12psi in 12.5 x17 8 ply tires. Point being the vehicle you equipped and built pretty much sets what is an optimum speed. Slow down when someone is coming at you. When you come up on someone going your same direction give the 2 miles t...

Re: Goler open all the way to DV?

That's what we had figured. I have to tell ya it does seem like an odd place to grow the stuff. They also had lots of signs warning not to drink the water because of of criminal activity.

Re: Goler open all the way to DV?

Starting by cutting thru the Slate Range. That section was same as always not much changed. Headed up Goler and the rock ledge there in the beginning is very mellow maybe 2 wheel drive mellow. Mengel Pass is a little chewed up on both sides but there are a few lines to use. Now for a beef about thin...

I'd bet the odds are more than 50% those guys don't give a shit about anything but time spent behind bars. I'd bet the odds are high that guy doesn't do a full year.
