The “road” to Panamint City was destroyed long ago. Desert weather is the nail you describe. But good news: it’s a beautiful and quiet wild walk.

I love their tacos and prefer to give my business to the native Timbisha, not Xanterra. What's in it? It's a Mexican taco minus the shell/tortilla and instead piled on scrumptious Indian fry bread. Go now!

You can park at the gate closure and walk on up. If you can walk x-country in rough desert you are not going to find it a challenge to walk around the construction site. You'll have the canyon mostly to yourself! A handful of parties walk into the canyon each day despite the road closure. Enjoy!
