Re: All aboard The Blue Mountain Express

Well, since everyone is getting into the act, I thought I'd share my Nov 2017 hike to Borax BM with a view over to Big Blue and the littler one to the NW that DVD has gone over, too. Fine memories of a beautiful area. Hope we don't make it too popular?!? https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4568/378841301...

Perhaps you went to some ordinary sites, but your pics are extraordinary!

Has anyone asked what camera you use?

Re: Canyon Hopping Upper Western Panamints

Nice pics! I always love getting pics of flowers when I can. Multi-day trip--7-10 days probably. I have been to Hummingbird Spring before, so would likely come down from Arcane Meadows into Tuber Canyon. Current outline is this: Mahogany Flat Telescope trail to Arcane Meadows Down into Tuber Canyon...

Re: Anyone planning January lunar eclipse in DV?

I've been so busy I didn't know about this happening! So thanks for posting this. I'll continue to be busy this month so I don't know where I'll be for this. But hopefully I'll watch it from somewhere! Supermoon rise from Dante Peak in Nov 2016: https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5482/3110332...

Re: Death Valley National Park; Bristlecones and Summit Camps Nov 4-7, 2018

Hi all, quick reply, I can add more when I have a chance. We found 3 spots large enough for individual bivy or 1 person tents. Mine pictured, one on the south side of the summit below the register and one 15 feet to the west slope. That was about all.

Death Valley Natl Pk; Racetrack Valley, Ubehebe and Lost Burro Peaks Nov 21-22, 2018

After a long long drive through Mojave National Preserve, Kimberly and I landed in the Racetrack Valley where we set up a camp at the mouth of Lost Burro Gap (Hunter Mountain Road) for a couple of nights and days of hiking. Our first day was a hike up Ubehebe Peak 5678' trail from the Racetrack and ...

Death Valley National Park; Bristlecones and Summit Camps Nov 4-7, 2018

After a wedding followed by some Sierra hikes, finally departed the Sierras for the desert landscapes of California. Nov 4: First a detour to the White Mountains/Ancient Bristlecone Pine Natural Area of the Inyo National Forest since it was basically on the way to Death Valley National Park. Easy in...

Re: Summer solstice on Little Blue - Artist Palette

Dang, this is whetting my appetite for Nov in the desert. Viewing the Blues from Borax (via Crokscrew) last Nov I vowed to get back there. How did you exit back to Artist Pallette? I've tried Dip Canyons 1 and 2 from bottom and couldn't get through. Perhaps the climbing was within ability but the ro...

Re: Panamint Butte Fatality in DV

I believe it is Cerro Gordo Peak, the smaller, conical looking mountain. I think that is right, the smaller bumps north and south with Cerro Gordo in the middle matches the topo well as them being the southern anchor of the range. I don't know the Sierras well enough to make out shapes of the indiv...

Re: Panamint Butte Fatality in DV

Views from the top were impressive of the Dunes, valley, and all the way to Whitney. Thanks for sharing your lovely morning image from the butte looking west. Do you happen to have an image from the same point of view but more of a northwestern angle capturing the Panamint Dunes in the soft morning...

Re: Panamint Butte Fatality in DV

Panamint Butte is one of the few named DVNP summits still on my to-do list. But I've long thought I didn't want to climb this nasty route (up from the Big Four Mine). Though it requires an overnight, I found the N Fk Lemoigne Canyon a very scenic route to a big j-tree head below the Butte. Or drive...

Re: Help

Hey, I got it to work once...as seen above your last post TacoLand. Thanks for your perseverance. At some point when I get a chance I'll do a retro TR of a few simple dayhikes last November.
Oh, sorry the sample pic was from Colorado Plateau and not DV.
