Mud warming up in Mustard Canyon?
You are zeroing in on the mystery but more Death Valley detective sleuthing is required for a fully correct answer. :bawling:

Captivating Similarities Between Jupiter and Death Valley

I got a "big charge" out of this significant video explaining how Death Valley and its surrounding geology was formed by the same forces that drive the raging storms on Jupiter. One reason I love Death Valley is that my footprints explore "the bootprints' created long ago by giant electric storms es...

But are you being honest about your age?
Thank you and I have been dishonestly UNDERrepresenting my age. I actually turn 68 next month. My motto: "Move it or lose it!"

Re: Has anyone here ever tried climbing Ubehebe Peak from Saline Valley?

Anyway, any insight on climbing Ubehebe from Saline Valley would be much appreciated. Thanks. This is a fun idea which I contemplated when standing atop Ubehebe Peak which I had climbed from the Racetrack Trailhead. I believe this is not only doable but a great way to spend the day. This video show...

Surveying Off Road Damages Near Badwater Road

I happened upon this Pahrump Valley Times article about NPS seeking grants for damage restoration: https://pvtimes.com/news/death-valley-seeks-grant-to-restore-damage-from-off-roading-81945/ and wondered if the person whom I saw in my video was a surveyor so I emailed Ranger Alison at Furnace Creek ...

Rocks In Head And Stones In My Passway

Another thread in the forum was hitting on the various manmade stone circles and formations around Death Valley which continues to fascinate me. It then dawned on me like a Zabriskie Point sunrise that one reason I love DEVA so much is that one can actually see the rocks which are not covered by the...

Re: Chloride road conditions

I was thinking of maybe being able to drive within a few miles, walk the rest, and then do a loop down to the Big Bell mine and out on a connecting road. I vote for this idea. If you could start at Chloride, enjoy the down hike around the mountain to Big Bell and from there either to Keane Wonder o...

Zzyzx Mineral Springs - Mixing Modern With Vintage

Tour the Zzyzx Mineral Springs site, now The Desert Study Center near Baker, California on a cool clear winter mourning in 2020 to view relics, waterworks, and wildlife. After more than forty years of driving right past the Zzyzx Road exit on I-15 I finally took the time on February 28th and am so g...

Billie Mine's East Side Story

At sunset explore the east side outside the fence line of The Billie Mine located near Dante's View Road in Death Valley National Park. February 28, 2020. Previously I had hiked around the mountain bordering Billie's east side and contemplated returning through the slot canyon which appeared to have...

Re: Leave a Car Overnight at SW, Furnace Creek?

I appreciate any and all responses...thanks so much. Hey Randomly, you could sub-lease your car for the day to Richard Farabee who owns Farabee's Jeep Rentals at Furnace Creek. He could then rent your car out to the first person who is foolish enough to drive it out to The Race Track. It's usually ...

Amargosa River Artifacts And Scenery

The river appears to have obtained its name from "Amargo" means bitter in Spanish and "Amargosa" is in reference to the non-potable water that flows in the Amargosa River. Depart Death Valley over Highway 190 on Saturday, February 29, 2020, under a red sunrise over Mount Charleston, head south from ...

A few flowers in southern DEVA 2-28-2020

I drove from Baker, CA to Badwater on Friday, February 28, 2020, and saw only a few yellow flowers around the Harry Wade cutoff from Badwater Road. I only snapped one image, right at the shoulder of Harry Wade Road with Telescope in the background. I did not notice any more flowers north of here. ht...
