Echo Canyon Waterfall

Randy O, that's a really cool video. I had a blast two years ago doing the exact same thing in a rented jeep like yours. I crossed my fingers and went for it because turning around was not a feasible option. The only regret I had was being in a hurry to return the jeep which kept me from exploring t...

Funny TV popcorn commercial shot in DV

I can't believe that they missed out by not producing the shoot at the Devil's Cornfield instead of what looks like Desolation Canyon parking area?

Above Keane Wonder Mine

After the reopening of Keane Wonder in Nov 2017, I hiked up well above and east of the main mine entrances to some mines I had spotted about five years ago. Curious, I scrambled up the south side of the steep canyon and checked out four of the holes in the canyon wall.

D.A. nailed it!

D.A. Your post would serve well as an introduction to a sequel that could be called "The Wild West Uncovered - The Real Rhyolite.' Your points about immigration, culture, tiers of society etc. are spot on. I think that you will still enjoy the video if only for how they learned about and then re-wro...

I think you guys are on two different pages. Netflix or Amazon
The confusion is my fault. At first, I recollected see the show on Netflix, but I was wrong. It can only be viewed on Amazon Prime or you can buy/rent it from Amazon.

Hiking Panamint Playa

The playa is an easy walk when it's dry. I suggest a big NO if it's wet because it will leave tracks and it is probably rather sticky. The sailing stones are not as large as the Racetracks nor as numerous but still fun to find them and their tracks. I was in a hurry so did not even begin to complete...

Good catch - Amazon Prime not Netflix

So try this link: https://smile.amazon.com/Wild-West-Uncovered-Elmar-Bartlmae/dp/B076FK4QCH/ref=sr_1_1_dvt_1_wnzw?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1515524880&sr=1-1&keywords=the+wild+west+uncovered If that link does not work (because maybe it's linked to my own personal Prime account) try this link which I h...

OK, now you've got me hooked

Jacknv7, thanks for that image. My next time out to DV in Feb or Mar I will attempt to spend a day on and around the Panamint Playa to see what I can come up with. I'll take some measurements, the scale of things and see there is any pattern out there. I'll try to find a knowledgeable ranger who mig...

Thanks for weighing in on the hole on the flat

Obviously, I have no expertise here but Gowergulch's idea about a hole being dug by humans seems plausible because I observed several "mining" like scenes around Lake Mountain. Maybe somebody wondered how deep the playa went or how deep to hit ground water? Or maybe there is a salt layer under the c...

Identify and explain Panamint Playa anomaly please

I am in collaboration with talented "light painter" Eric Pare https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCU_Pho_vmjHYczx6TqF9dAA/videos from Montreal, Canada on exploring additional Death Valley locations for his amazing work. Eric noticed a video of mine covering the Panamint Playa's sailing stones and asked...
