Re: Living in Beatty

Thank you all. I've lived in small towns so understand how that goes, but never anything like Beatty. I'd be going to the city regularly enough to handle groceries and all that. Was wondering about the population that lives there and whether it's a regular community or mostly transients like myself ...

Is Beatty friendly towards transplants? What is high speed internet situation? I checked availability and it looks like 25 Mb down is highest speed. I've been through Beatty and can't remember having issues with wireless coverage but if anyone has any experience with extended use please advise. I am...

Wild fires & Visibility

How's the visibility looking for this weekend? Hoping to get some good photos this weekend in the mountains. Not from this area but been hearing about all the fires hoping it's clear.

General Visibility/Weather in Mountains

Has the drought made a difference in visibility? We'll be going up Telescope Peak mid Sept. Hoping to see as far as I can remember last time I was there.

It'll be about 20 degrees cooler up around Mahogany Flats area than down in the valley right?

Oh, if it matters I'd be coming down Emigrant Canyon road from Stovepipe Wells direction if that matters. Not sure what part of the road was even closed. Hoping it's good enough to at least drive to Wildrose campground if not all the way to the Kilns.

Telescope Peak Early-Mid August

Hello DV folks, It's been too long since I've been up to Telescope Peak. Last time through DV (1.5 years ago?) the rangers said part of Wildrose road was closed. Are we able to park at Wildrose campground and hike the rest of the way from there? How is Mahogany Flats campground being maintained? Spe...
