Anyone know the name of this plant? Flower resembles lupines, so maybe some variety of that? Thanks for the writeup and pictures! For hiking out there should we plan to be out all day? I realize a certain amount of skill and probably luck is needed to locate fossils.

I also saw that you had a lot of other interesting things to read. It will take a while to absorb those.

Back in November of 2011 there used to be a couple of those dishes to the east of the paved road going up to the bristlecone pines area.
