Re: Motorway to Hell - Scotty's Castle Road images

Thanks for another informative, interesting video, DVD. Is all the unprepared highway damage in the park, or is any of it the responsibility of CA or NV? It seems odd to me to leave the highway in a state of disrepair. It certainly is not hard to keep it blocked. Budgetary issues? Just seems weird t...

Boy, I really, really miss the big ice machine that used to be by the gas station at FC. For six quarters and a lot of noise, you got a great big block of ice. Probably gone 8 or more years now, but I certainly miss that option--and a good price.

Yeah, talk about knee issues! I have them in spades. My experience is somewhat similar to MojaveGeek's but a bit different, too. I have no knee issues at all uphill. I prefer easier trails to rocky, rooted ones, but mostly because the latter take longer to negotiate and deprive me of some of the sce...

Re: Cohab Canyon, Capitol Reef

I was going to post awhile back, but thought interest was waning, so...I deferred. With MojaveGeek's post, I am now reinspired. I have done almost all the day hikes in the main part of Capitol Reef. Cohab Canyon--I couldn't even count the times. We tend to go down the canyon (or is it up??), across ...

Love it. Just love it, DVD. Thanks so much for putting together your reports and videos. Both enjoyable and inspirational--although I'm not sure how inspired I am to try something in 124-degree heat. Keep 'em coming.

Congratulations on your trip and summit. There were points I am sure I would have turned backed.

Loved the video--every minute of it. Thanks for taking the time and effort to chronicle it all so well.

Re: Furnace Creek Chevron

Did you or your mechanic actually pull the warning code that triggered the alert? Good question. No. I don't have a code reader, and it never occurred to me to have my mechanic do it. Guess I am the sort of person that if an oil light comes on and I check and am 1-2 quarts low (never has happened),...

Re: Furnace Creek Chevron

Yes, I always buy it there. Keep in mind, though, Stovepipe Wells only sells 87 octane--good enough for most gasoline-powered cars, but not all. Just a word of caution. I have an unfussy Chevy engine in my (Class B) camper van. Yet after filling up at Stovepipe a couple years ago, my Check Engine l...

Another Titus Canyon Question

With Titus Canyon opening up today (or yesterday?), the wife and I have decided to bring our car down if we can do Titus Canyon with it. In terms of my experience, although not an off-roader, I have driven rented jeeps to Marble Canyon, the Racetrack, Titus, and various other places in DV (and Moab,...
