Is there an easy way to post pictures on here? I tried, but couldn't figure it out. Thanks.

Re: Feb 27-March 1

My wife points out that her memory was that there were a few places I was rather slow on that exit wash, with some drops right near the end (as you go down) toward the confluence. Now I have knee issues so I can't bend them as far as some people and that certainly slowed me. I have no idea of your ...

Re: Feb 27-March 1

I went to the Ashford camp last year, after having previously visited 25 years earlier. I was pleased to find it still in good shape. Digonett describes a number of short spurs from the camp to other mines and viewpoints in the immediate area, but we were on the way back from trying to climb Ashfor...

Feb 27-March 1

Taking our bi-annual trip to Death Valley Feb7-March1. On the way out from Orange County, we are gonna stop at the Trona Pinnacles and then head up and make a stop at the wildrose charcoal kilns. From there we will head into Beatty to our hotel. The first full day we are looking at driving up Jail C...

Re: Nov 14-17 trip. Artist Dr, Chloride City to Keane parking lot, Defense mine, and Golden canyon

I got to do the Chloride - Keane downhill once years ago when I got a lift up to Chloride (actually, a couple of good friends got married up there that day, but that's a different story). It's really an amazing walk down, views all the way all day. When I was halfway down the last stretch below the...

We did Zabriskie point, through Badlands, passed by Manly Beacon, then came down through Golden Canyon to the parking lot. Next time we will do the parking lot, Gower Gulch, Badlands loop.

Nov 14-17 trip. Artist Dr, Chloride City to Keane parking lot, Defense mine, and Golden canyon

Started the first day driving into Death Valley, and stopping at the 2nd dip of Artist drive. Climbed up the first pink dry fall by the road and hiked back. A few more scrambles up a couple more dry falls and made my way back to the larger fall. Didn't try to climb it or find a way around since it w...

Re: November Visit

Some of the spots are even better to photograph with people in them to get a little perspective. You shouldn't have much problem with crowds though.....it's a big place.

Denny's is non smoking in the restaurant. It's inside the casino though, where smoking is allowed. It's not bad inside the Denny's at all.

Saratoga spring, fall canyon, and sidewinder canyon 2/28-3/2

So Thursday morning Feb 28 we left Orange County and headed up to Saratoga Spring to start our Death Valley trip. Got to the Spring and hiked to Saratoga mine. It was a nice hike, and we saw the remnants of the mine and the old structures. Didn't have much time, or we would have liked to check out t...

Ya, the smoke part sucks......but when it's the best food in town, it's a lot easier to try and ignore it!

Re: KC's Outpost, Beatty, Nevada

Smoking is allowed, it's a bar as well. The menu had pulled chicken sandwiches, burgers, French dip, cheasesteak, mussels, salad, and a lot more that I can't remember. I was pretty surprised at the diversity of what was offered. I'm not a big fan of smoke where I'm eating either, but the food made i...
