Alaska

I am preparing for an upcoming motorhome trip starting June 6th all the way up into Alaska. My currently planned route will cover 7,700 miles and I have allocated 3 months for the trip. Knowing how isolated you can be up there, and after having seen the SPOT device posting in another thread, I purch...

It looks like that one guy with the shotgun was ready to handle any law enforcement that showed up. It gets more and more dangerous every day to be a park ranger! I have a cousin who use to be a California State Park ranger, but she eventually gave it up because it had become too dangerous.

There have been several times that I have seen newspaper articles talking about Yosemite when it is quite obvious they are talking about Yellowstone!

Time-lapse: Sunset at Sunset Campground

Here is a time-lapse video I did at Sunset Campground during my last visit in February. https://www.dropbox.com/s/6gl7okoep82e1sa/WV00154.mp4?dl=1 The original was shot at 1 frame every 10 seconds and is being played back at 30 frames per second. That is a speed-up factor of 300X. The actual time co...

When I was in DV around February 9th, the road had a closed sign and it looked like it had been washed out. Has it been repaired?

Just shows how ignorant I am, despite being a computer geek. I had never heard of a SPOT device before. Just looked it up. Interesting!

I need to carry more of my old pictures on my iPad. That way I will have them with me when I want to shoot a "Now" picture. I could have positioned myself a little better for a perfect match.

Titus Canyon - Then & Now - 57 Years Later

In going through my picture collection, I came up with the following pair of pictures taken at nearly the same spot 57 years apart. The first picture was taken in 1959 by my father. I would have been along on this trip, but have just faint memories of it. The second picture was taken February 10th b...
