Assorted Videos

Absolutely nothing to do with Death Valley, but a few assorted videos from my collection. Here is a video I made a couple of weeks ago of a couple of people crossing the Royal Gorge in Colorado on a Zip Line. Keep in mind that they are over 1,000 feet above the river below. https://www.dropbox.com/s...

DUDE > YOU totally cut off and blocked the path of the pedestrian that you say helped you... Ironic  That's the problem with our condo driveway. You can't really see who is there until you are already starting to enter the sidewalk. The dashboard camera is sitting at least a couple of feet fo...

Woman Driver (Blond too!)

Okay, the ladies out there are probably going to shoot me for this video! This happened just a couple of hours ago. I live in a condo complex with a subterranean garage. I needed to go out for a few minutes. As I reached the driveway ramp, I noticed a woman in a car in the street stopped right acros...

It's amazing when you think about all of the functions the iPhone or iPad can perform. The following is a list of just some of the things that I use my iPad for. These are just the more generic uses. I have other specialized uses that I am not including here: GPS navigation while hiking. Road naviga...

The industry has largely been cannibalized by the smart phone market. For the average user, a standalone GPS unit is a waste of money when their smart phone can do the same thing, plus 1000 other things for about the same cost. The long term direction of the GPS industry is going to be high end ($$...

I ran my Magellan receiver (2001-era) side by side with my Galaxy S5 GPS app the other day & found remarkable differences in location. I've been using the Magellan for work for many years and I know its accuracy quite well. I was disappointed that the phone's GPS app failed to even put me in the sa...

Seems to be working for me. Thanks for the reply...So the problem is probably on my end. Need to look at my settings. But it seems to be remembering other sites that I log into. Update: I had Internet Explorer purge all of its remembered passwords, web pages, and other things and did a full power-o...

Login Problems?

Is anyone else having problems with this board not remembering your login information? For years, I have only had to re-enter my password about once a month or so. Now, I need to re-enter it every single time I login. It doesn't seem to remember it even though I check the "Remember" box on the login...

Re: The Borax Man of Death Valley

I was going back through some of my older pictures from a few years ago, when I found pictures of a few pages from a self-published book "Chronicles of the Mojave Desert" by JD Gepenre. The tale tells of the Borax Man, a chinaman who became horrifically disfigured in an accident at the Harmony Bora...

The extreme rains we had during the winter of 2004/2005 could have redistributed significant amounts salt deposits, changing what was considered the low spot. It is such a broad, flat area that it would be extremely difficult to determine what is absolutely the lowest point when the most variation y...
