Re: Stumbled upon plane crash above Widow Mine

Someone went to a lot of trouble to place that memorial up there. Very nice.

Re: June 14-15 trip (2018)

There's a reason Farrabee's doesn't rent during the summer. :dgrin: Please be careful and bring extra water wherever you go. I can't really help you with the vehicle but if you posted the sites you want to see maybe the more experienced and knowledgeable members will have suggestions. Also, consider...

Re: Buckwheat Dunes

Very nice pix! And... that was a pretty long day! I was out to the smoketree slots a week before you and that made for a decent day in itself! And you went to multiple slots so you crossed between them. I haven't been to the Buckwheat Dunes but they look pretty nice! Echo what shane says about Sand...

Re: Buckwheat Dunes

I love Steve Hall's write ups of the Owlsheads and I too have the Sand Canyon hike on my to do list. It's because of him we were there exploring the Smoke Tree slots.

PanamintCity.com is a great source for hikes that most people are unaware of. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Buckwheat Dunes

Thank you both. I don’t know about any more dunes, other than one or two here and there. I found out about them from panamintcity.com. The best way to get to them is to go west from Ibex Spring. There’s two dirt roads out of the spring that merge before going over the hills into Buckwheat Wash. The ...

Buckwheat Dunes

My buddy and I hiked the Buckwhaet dunes this last week and it was beautiful. There was no one to be seen. The only downside was the tire ruts next to the dunes. I'm taking a rake with me the next time I go back. We also walked up to the talc mine and the old miner's cabin past it. After checking ou...

Camping near Confidence Hills

Is there an issue with camping along Harry Wade Road at the south end of the Confidence Hills?, other than the usual back country regs.I don't see any prohibition on the DVNP website; no one answers the phone over there.

Sage wrap

Thanks for sharing your pics. How cool that must have been. Panamint Charlie is right. I recognized that sage bundle as something my wife uses for spiritual purposes. She has one in her car- for luck, I guess - and another she burns for spiritual purposes. She even uses it to cleanse a campsite when...
