20 Mule Team road was also closed
Thanks!

20 Mule Team opened the last week of March after road grading repairs. Westside 'Road opened last week of March as well. As of March 29th when I drove by, Emigrant Canyon Road was still closed.

Badwater to Dantes Peak and back March 26th

After two prior explorations of Bad Canyon, I got the whacky idea of ascending to Dantes Peak from Badwater and returning in the same day. Two days prior to this hike I stashed some water just below Dantes Peak for use on the return which was a smart idea. I departed BW parking lot at first light, c...

Re: Flooding and Lake Manly today?

Love your "goofy video" of the river crossing. Be careful going too fast into deep water because I did that once and tore up the plastic front wheel fender linings of my truck. Oops!

Re: Westside approach Panamint Dunes - unexpected geology

One of these days, I'm going to get to the dunes. Like Brian, I've now been twice and there is still more to see. I had intended to circumnavigate the dune field but the day was running longer than I expected (crossing the unexpected boulder fields and washes southwest of the dunes although beautif...

Bighorn lamb close-ups at Keane Wonder

Above the Keane Wonder Mine in Death Valley, a herd of bighorn sheep is grazing when a lamb appears under the watchful eye of the mother ewe. While stumbling around the ridge between King Midas and Keane Wonder looking for a shortcut I lucked out capturing a herd when a lamb popped up from its nap t...

Hello from Death Valley - Thursday Night 3-28

The Internet is a bit sketchy from here at Panamint Springs Resort so I hope this gets through. I've been here a week and having one of the best visits ever. Video reports to be posted later. Just a few notes and highlight here: The Mosaic Canyon Road is closed due to major water-works crossing the ...

This board has been very inspiring and educational for me for years, glad to have crawled out from under my rock and start contributing. Thanks for adding ten more eye candy images of which this is my favorite. This is an inspiration to get my sorry posterior out to the Geologist's Cabin soon. Plea...

Is the next challenge to summit one of the colorful peaks due east of the top of the Artist's Palette Second Dip Canyon? Well maybe? Thanks for your post Kauri because I was unaware of Second Dip Canyon having an official name. I should change my name from DVD to DVC- Death Valley Clueless. I actua...

There is indeed plentiful water in Panamint Valley. Enough for a paddle, about 16" worth.
Those images are over the top gorgeous. Do you have any more to share? More detailed trip report?
