Blow'n in Beatty, NV - more than just a gas stop?

Most of us just use Beatty, NV for a gas stop but there might be more there than you think?

Beatty

We have stayed at the Atomic Inn a number of times. It's a lot cheaper than Stovepipe or Furnace Creek and is a nice place. The drawbacks to Beatty are a long drive to get into the park depending on where you are going and food options are very limited.

Always stay in Beatty
Gema's Cafe has great breakfast, dinner was OK,
The Happy Burro stays open later and has decent Chili and a good choice of beer and the only choice if you get into town late.
KC's Outpost was good for dinner

I always stay at the Stagecoach, not the best place on the planet, but I enjoy the small Casino and have never had a problem.

We stay in Beatty every death valley trip. Cheap blackjack and poker in the casino. Some decent spots to eat there too.

Is there any place to get groceries in Beatty, such as fresh produce, these days? Years ago there was a small store but I think it's gone. Rumor has it there's one of the dollar stores opening but I don't know what they sell.

Motel recommendations?

A March trip to stay at SPW is getting screwed up as there seems to be some NPS training event of some sort in the park and no rooms available at SPW or FC. So thanks for any Beatty suggestions.

PSR would be an option but their rooms are just too tiny for my taste, though I think they may have built some newer ones that might have more space?

The Beatty Family Dollar is open. But I'm not sure how much if any fresh produce they have in there.

Earlier in this thread, someone recommended the Atomic Inn, in Beatty. But I haven't stayed there. Maybe try TripAdvisor?

I've never used the lodging at PSR (or any place else in the Park  ) so I can't help you there. Hopefully David Bricker will come along soon and fill you in about that.

PSR web site is nice in that you can see which rooms are actually available, and there's photos, so you can see if it works for you. Their rooms are pretty small so choose carefully. They have some options that would be nice by my standards and significantly cheaper than SPW, but they are pretty full that week. I guess overflow from SPW since it seems to be booked up. I like Panamint Valley though and I usually try to get over there even when I'm staying at SPW. But there's 4-6 of us on these trips and we try to squeeze into one of the rooms to all eat dinner together from stuff we bring to share.

Well if we end up in Beatty it's convenient to Keane and Chloride which we can visit again, and maybe get back to Grapevine... a bunch of low peaks by Daylight Pass.. Always things to do.

We typically stay at motel 6 in Beatty. Has always been clean and don't really have any complaints. The only downside is if you have a noisy neighbor......the sound carries through the walls very easily.

I usually use Beatty as a stepping off point before heading into the park. I think I've stayed at every hotel in Beatty, and I like the character of the Atomic Inn the best. However, Motel 6 is so easy to book and cancel (including cancelling the day of the reservation) that I stay there now. Another great thing in Beatty -- the breakfast sandwiches at the Rebel gas station.

I will repeat my recommendation for the Atomic Inn. However, it is the only place that we have stayed. I can't speak to the others.

Mel's Diner is really good for breakfast and lunch. Unfortunately, they are not open for dinner.

KC's Outpost is good, but the menu is limited to pizza and sandwiches.

The last time we ate at Denny's, it was downright nasty - never again.

We have not tried Gema's or the Happy Burro.

I have never eaten at Gema's, but I probably should...since I have mooched their wifi before!

Stayed at the Atomic Inn & spent time with the locals at the Happy Burro last time through. No complaints.

The rebel station is now an Arco......so the breakfast sandwiches may be gone
