Steve - These pictures are great. I'm a big fan of hunting down Star Wars filming locations and like seeing other peoples trips. I have one comment though for the "Mos Eisley Overlook" section. The first screenshot you have there is in Tunisia. You can see a behind-the-scenes photo here that shows you a little more of the scene: http://www.starwarslocations.com/mediag ... 0014801177

Andy - I'm the guy on the motorbike for the buckwildbill.com link you posted above. I have a new website now that goes into a more detail then the old one did. http://www.starwarslocations.com

Scott - I've never heard of filming in Gower Gulch. You can still find the right spot for the dunes though by lining up the mountains in the background. Here is a comparison shot from my trip.

I also have a page on the site you may be interested in that summarizes all of the California articles and info there.

Bill, thanks for your help. I did realize that the first screenshot was Tunisia, but I just posted it for reference, so people would know what the scene was. In the DV shot, there's no actors for reference, there's just the shot of what they are looking at.

But your shot of the sand dunes is a BIG help. I've been trying to figure out a way to match this up for years now. With your background shot with the mountains, I will now be able to do it on my next trip. Thank you very much.

Any thoughts on how to match up the landspeeder scene with the location where it was filmed on West Side Rd.?

I'm a big fan, as you can see. On my trip to Lake Como, Italy in 2006, I was matching up scenes from Star Wars Ep 2: Attack of the Clones--

The landspeeder location is going to be hard to find and I haven't heard of anyone that has so far. The backgrounds in those scenes are a little blurry and hard to make out anything unique enough to help you find the right spot. I haven't seen any behind-the-scenes photos from those scenes that would help either. Here are some landspeeder screenshots:

I originally went looking for it on West Side Road but nothing really looked familiar there. I later heard that it might have been further down on Salt Pool Road but I haven't been back to check it out myself.

The Lake Como picture is great. I hope to make it there someday. I was in Italy in 1999 right after Ep 1 came out and went to see Caserta where they filmed the Naboo palace but that was before anything had happened at Lake Como.

Bill,

There is one picture that you have of the landspeeder, which has some hills / mountains in the background. That would probably be the only picture that would be possible to match up. I'm going to be on West Side Rd. during my upcoming March trip, which will possibly be moved up to February. While I'm driving down West Side Rd., I will try to look for what is seen on that picture.

Updated this tour guide with Tour Stop 7: Droid Dunes, back on the first page of this thread. Thanks to buckwildbill for the info and the picture used for match-ups on the dunes.

If you ever head back again looking for more Star Wars scenes, there are a bunch in this set of pics that I haven't seen lined up before.

Speaking of filming at the Trona Pinnacles, I was there on Nov. 21 last year, and saw some activity (see pics below). Maybe one of you knows what project this was?
