The LA times is indeed doing an article. I have spoken with the journalist multiple times. I believe he has an alias here on the message board. I can tell you he has definitely done the research and due diligence to ensure his facts are correct. I am not sure when the article will be published, but I'm sure he will let me know. I will post it here when it has been published.

Somehow I hope not, but cons are cons. Some less colorful.

Sparky was quicker on the draw than me. This is the article I mentioned.

Well, the articles confirms what we knew, plus some additional information.

Personally, I dealt with him once. After some e-mails I spoke with him on the phone in October 2015 and was thoroughly weirded out by him.

Long story short, he was trying to get sites out of me. He kept asking about two springs I am familiar with and got agitated when I wouldn't tell him what was there.

Jim: "I am not walking 6 miles to find nothing, just tell me if there is something there."

Wow. I was probably his first client c.2012. Essentially I needed someone with a high clearance vehicle to drive me to some of the remote locations in DVNP. I recall having him take me (and my wife) to Eureka Valley, Butte Valley, Titus Canyon, Ibex Dunes, Kaleidoscope Canyon (which was a hike), Aguereberry Point, Chloride Cliff, and some other places. These locales weren’t verboten territory and are well known to DVNP aficionados. As a photographer, I prefer to leave the driving to someone else while I focus on image making. I must have hired DV Jim on 2-3 occasions over 2 years. At the time I did not suspect anything was amiss. He conducted himself professionally. Only much later did I come to understand what we all now know.
