Death Valley December 2017 Trip Reports

Post by Kauri » Wed Jan 03, 2018 1:21 pm

I have just posted the first two trip reports from our December 2017 Death Valley trip:

1. "Balancing Rock Canyon" (canyon just south of Artists Drive First Dip Canyon, and north of Brimstone Canyon), in the Black Mountains.

2. Minor drainage two north of Artists Palette (just south of Desolation Canyon), in the Black Mountains.

Due to a busy graduate school schedule, I probably won't have time to write up the other five reports until next summer:

3. Lower King Midas Canyon (below the old mule trail), in the Funeral Mountains.
4. Views from north of Borax Benchmark, in the Black Mountains.
5. Upper part of the canyon just north of Echo Canyon, in the Funeral Mountains.
6. Keane Wonder Bridge and Cyty's Mill, in the Funeral Mountains.
7. Hellfire Canyon, in the Black Mountains (in more detail).

Glad you like the reports!

If you check out the trip reports page of my website, you'll also see some reports from last summer. I'm hoping to have time to finish the remaining reports from those summer trips in the next month or so (they're almost done and just need proofreading).

I'm finally getting to some of these reports, and (much-needed) updates on my website...

Here are links to the two parts of my report on some small peaks just north of Borax Benchmark.

I've completed one more report from this trip, visiting a formation in the upper part of the canyon just north of Echo. As expected, it turned out to not be a natural bridge, but the upper part of the canyon is very nice and is worth exploring further (when the days are longer than they are in January!).
