Ryan Camp And The Billie Mine Loop

Post by Death Valley Dazed » Fri Dec 20, 2019 11:38 am

Taken a delightful late afternoon hike clockwise around the Billie Mine and the butte that towers over it. Catch a great view of Ryan Camp from atop that butte and enjoy the sunset reflecting off of the mine and the Funeral Mountains.

My wife and I took the Ryan tour a couple of years ago and got to see the camp up close. We also walked down the old railroad grade a couple of weeks ago to the old cemetery which was about 6 miles long round trip.

Yes, that tour is on my bucket list. Please post any images that you have Randy because they're outstanding.

If that tour is on your bucket list I just got an email from them saying they will have another on April 5th and you need to send them an email to get on the list. tours@ryancamp.org is their email address and they fill up fast.

Wow, thanks man! I just filled out their website notification form and sent an email as well. Keeping my fingers crossed. Now, don't forge about my image request of your experience there and along the vintage RR trax.

Ryan Reservations full - images not loading

Even though I emailed right away, Ryan says the April tour is full. Rats!

Randy, the images of yours in this thread don't seem to be loading, even with fast Wifi Connection? All I'm getting is (-) icon where the image should be loading up.

When we first applied for that tour it was filled up too but Scott put me on a standby list and somebody backed out so we got to go after all. Maybe ask him to do that for you too and you might get lucky. As for the pictures, they load fine on my computer but I see what you mean when I try to look at them on my wife's computer. I have them uploaded to Google Photo's so maybe they don't allow sharing like that which kinda surprises me. I'll see if I can do something different.

Yes, thanks for sharing those high-quality images. When I hiked that section of the rail trail from Highway 190 towards Ryan Camp I turned around and headed back before I reached the No Trespassing - Ryan Camp north side boundary. This may be why I missed seeing the small cemetery on the up hillside of the rail path.

And thanks for the suggestion of cancellation list back up for the Ryan Tour.

I was lucky enough to do the Ryan tour a few years ago. It was a great experience.
