Death Valley (unofficial and official) place names map

Post by Kauri » Fri Mar 06, 2020 8:45 pm

I’ve been putting together a map of (unofficial and official) named places in DV, based on place names I’ve found on hiker trip reports, NPS databases, etc. It’ll probably never be entirely finished, but I think I can finally say it’s mostly done. :)

The brown pins are peaks on the NPS DEVA High Points list. Blue pins are for places I’ve written a trip report about. Green pins are for places I visited before I started writing reports, and purple pins are for places I haven’t been yet.

Locations are approximate. Please let me know if you find errors or if there are places I should add.

Link to the map: [I haven't yet figured out if I can embed the google map in this forum thread; any advice will be greatly appreciated.]

That's a fantastic ..... and ... intimidating map, Kauri! Check out all those blue and green pins!

I'm partially inspired to do up a map with pins of everywhere I've been just for my own records. But less inspired now that I've seen yours.

Headed down on Sunday to check out two new spots for me – Lemoigne and Stateline/Gold Point. And then aiming to be back down at the end of March to check out some new spots in the Owlshead area. Thanks for the info & inspiration.
