We recently had a return visit to the Hard Luck Mine Castle. Since it is now mostly finished and Randy has been trying to sell it, we figured we should see it while Randy was still giving tours. I put together a post about it on our travel/photography blog:

We both felt that Randy seems frustrated and disheartened that no one seems to want to buy the place.

I can understand his frustration and discouragement. My father spent nearly 30 years building a craftsman-style house, after work and on weekends, which he modeled on ones done by Greene and Greene. Unfortunately, no one wants to buy it, partly based on its location.
Hopefully Randy will find a buyer for his masterpiece. Wasn’t there a group that organizes retreats which was interested in it at some point?

There have been a number of "interested" parties over the years. But to hear Randy tell it, few if any of them are serious. Some may think they are serious, but clearly don't have the resources to buy the place.
I noticed sometime before Thanksgiving that the website had been hacked, and gave Randy a courtesy call to let him know. But it still isn't fixed. So yeah, he seems increasingly "over it."
Someone in Gold Point mused that potential buyers may have realized it would be difficult to maintain the solar and other systems unless they themselves have the technical skills. And imagine how expensive it would be to have technicians, electricians, plumbers, etc. come out every time there was a problem.
Oh, and there is the fact that there's no water on the property...you have to haul it over the mountains from Gold Point.
