I have seen your post about fossils and thought I would share what I found. From the Homestake camp I hiked past the mine site to the saddle, hooked left over a small ridge into a alluvial fan. I hiked north along the base of the ridge that had been on my left on the way to the saddle. Then I dropped down a steep canyon back to the camp. On the way down saw some fossils in a grey boulder. They were round, about one inch in diameter. Some smaller but I don't think any were larger. Of course I don't have photos.
