Anybody gonna post something? New trip planned? Information sharing? This forum has been pretty dead lately :bawling:

Well let's see, here is something new I don't think I have posted on. I did some aerial photography in and around Death Valley.

Nice. What kind of device were you using? Considering the very low altitude of some of the photos, I'm assuming its not passenger aircraft.

Quadracopter or hexacopter I'm guessing.

Lovely. Enjoyed the ones on your site hugely. With a little bit more punch in contrast I think they can be improved.

I wish you had gotten one of the alluvial fan near Badwater where the road curls around its periphery (visible from Dante's View).

Thanks Agtoau. It is a switch working with the images out of the GoPro. The GoPro excels at video but the stills look like hi res screen grabs and do need more work in post processing.

I am thinking that I would like to get a larger UAV with a higher lift capacity to be able to get a full size DSLR in the air but that will have to come later.

My sense is that the next version of GoPro (4?) will be the finished article. For my recent trip to DeVa, I bought a Sony HDR-ASV30 (BH had a great deal going in Dec) to plant on my car because I felt the GoPro Hero 3+ needed to go through another iteration.

What kind of an UAV do you currently deploy?

I am using the DJI Phantom and have it equipped with FPV on a ground station and also the goggles to help frame the the subject from the air.

I have been admiring the DJI S800 hex-rotor for getting a larger camera in the air and the about to be released DJI S1000 octocopter can easily lift a full size DSLR with a good lens.
