Help

Post by John Morrow » Fri Jun 15, 2018 12:33 pm

I am trying to imbed pics. I click on insert image. Then place a Flickr url between the img brackets but it doesn't upload a pic. What do I put between the img brackets?

I generally do it manually, by typing image tags:

[img]image web address[ /img]

Note: I left a space in the last image tag so that this site doesn’t interpret and display an empty image box.

Argh, when I do that with Flickr I get my whole photostream inserted as a mini slide show. The space worked, though, to not just get the pic icon w/o a pic.

Are you sure you are getting the URL of a single image? On some image web sites drilling down to the actual URL of a single image takes some work. Can you give an example of a URL you are trying to embed?

In most browsers when you right click an image, there should be an option like "copy image address". Make that selection and then you can paste that address between the [img] tags.

Since all pics are part of the photostrream or album even when I right click and hit copy link address, the whole stream or set comes across. I cnnot figure out in Flickr how to isolate a link address to a single pic.

Yeah ... the link Flickr gives you to "share" isn't the image address when I tried.

I ended up right-clicking on the image and going with "Inspect Element" in my browser, Safari. From there I found the direct image link in "Resources" ... kind of a pain in the butt if you're not used to doing this stuff.

I found this Flickr forum thread that might help you find a slightly easier solution -- https://www.flickr.com/help/forum/en-us ... 248789263/ -- but honestly .. I don't use Flickr so not 100% sure if this is still valid. Sorry.

Oh hell, these are great suggestions and I appreciate the help but I'm not having any luck. I'll just go back to linking my reports to the NWHikers site which I have come to understand. Oh well. I realize the audience is less apt to hit a link to another website but if one is sincerely interested in gleaning the info , they'll make the effort.

Computers, aren't they neat?

So those URLs you're pasting are correct ... but they need to be in-between [ img ] tags ...

What you'd type out is ...

Code: Select all

Hey, I got it to work once...as seen above your last post TacoLand. Thanks for your perseverance. At some point when I get a chance I'll do a retro TR of a few simple dayhikes last November.
Oh, sorry the sample pic was from Colorado Plateau and not DV.

Your photos are awesome, especially from Red Wall Canyon. Can you link your TR when its done?
