I'm not sure which saddle they're talking about, but clearly something close to Cerro Gordo. Can you actually see Death Valley from there?
Kind of confusing, isn't it? I mean, you can see land inside of the park boundary, but the actual salt pan wouldn't be visible due to the Panamints/Argus blocking the view.

Of course I could be completely wrong.

Reports coming in that some of the buildings at Cerro Gordo burned down last night...

"The American Hotel, Crapo House and ice house in Cerro Gordo burned down early this morning. Some of the owners and long time caretaker Robert were onsite and prevented the Gordon House from burning as well. Fortunately there were no injuries. The investigation is just starting but it sounds like an electrical fire was the cause."
