What contact did you have to order direct from Michel?

No reason to have a middle man anyway.

I think his e-mail was posted earlier in this thread by somebody (which Michel gave permission to post for the time being) and it's also on the front page of my site above the pictures of his books.

I was at the Interagency Visitor Center outside Lone Pine the other day, and they had this in stock, so I finally got a copy! Laughing Haven't had a chance to read it in depth, but at first glance it looks good. Now I just have to get back in hiking shape and find some time to get back down there during the cooler months!

I have read a bit of the book and found quite a few historical errors in the book concering the Argus Range Mining Camps.

That's not really surpising because the information on the area is scarce scattered.

I was bummed to see some lesser know locations put in and hinted at in the book, but also was glad to see that he missed some major sites.

He put some sites in the book that I have know of for years but have never got around to hitting, I will have to hit them as ASAP before they get trashed.

What I found interesting was that the book was written at the same time as the first book. I don't know if the material was updated in the 5 yrs since the 1st was published.

I've truly been enjoying reading the new book. It's already proved to be a HUGE help to me this past summer when I hiked Marble Canon in the Saline Range. And for my Fall trip, I'm taking close looks at Panamint Cyn, Dolomite Cyn, Hall Cyn, and Happy Cyn, to see if I can fit one or more into my schedule. All of those canyons are covered extremely well.

Those that have read the new book probably noticed that there are a few similar chapters with the same material as the first book. What is happening is that the first book is actually being revised, those similar chapters are being removed, and we are going to get some brand new chapters and hikes in the new edition, which I believe is coming out sometime in 2010.

True, except he doesn't mention the tank and guzzler up in Dolomite Canyon! Wink

Also, I recently noticed two copies of the new book on the shelf in the Folsom REI. So it's finally starting to show up in stores.

I'll be looking forward to the new edition of his first guidebook!
