Tonopah hospital closes, leaving medical care 100 miles away

Post by Candace_66 » Mon Aug 24, 2015 12:04 pm

This might be good to know if you like to travel and explore in this part of the country...

"Nye County Regional Medical Center, a 10-bed facility and the only hospital within a 100-mile radius, shut its doors at noon Friday. That leaves residents in much of Nye County and neighboring Esmeralda County without easy access to an emergency room, inpatient care or laboratory, radiology, respiratory and outpatient therapy services...

The closest medical centers are in Hawthorne, Battle Mountain, Fallon or Bishop, Calif..."

Yes, I was there a couple months ago and it doesn't look like the big solar plant nearby has led to any kind of Boom there!
