I hope to head down to DV in about a week. I like to enter via Eureka Sand Dunes and wander via steel pass then up Lippencot and come out over the pass and down to Paniment Springs and then south to Mengel pass and the Geologists Cabin. Well, you get the idea. I am wondering if the roads are open (no snow of any depth). I have a yj Wrangler with posi front and back and a 4" lift and have never had problems but I thought I would ask so I can do a little better planning.

Thnaks

I don't have the latest updates about snow conditions, but your vehicle is certainly adequate for that trip, assuming you have good tires. I would guess snow would be a concern only in the South Pass and Hunter Mountain area.

You aren't trying to to that all in one day, are you? For a trip like that, I'd allow at least 4-5, assuming plenty of sightseeing time.

The tires are 31X10.50 Good Year Wrangler MT/R Kevlar and they do have some miles on them but are not at the point I want to replace them yet. I plan, as before, to spend a week or so - whatever time is needed. Being retired, I have the time. I have wandered quite a bit in the area and am feeling withdrawal simptoms (cabin fever) and need a little DV Time. I just wondered what I would be looking at this year in the hunter area.

Thanks

Its been a very very dry winter. There was a storm this past weekend that might have dropped some snow, I don't know, I was out last week. I was not out in the Hunter area but in general there's not a lot of snow on the peaks except the north facing parts.
