Hello there everyone!!! I have just come back to civilization after spending the last 5 or so months out in deep field camps in Greenland doing some electrical work for the National Science Foundation.

I had a wonderful time but was severly cut-off from just about everything in the outside world. I have just returned to Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, and I will be flying home tomorrow.

I spent some time at the Greenland summit camp, as well as other, more remote (is that possible?) camps, most at or near the coast. I was there primarily to do a bit of work on the relay system for their integration of solar power into their "grid" which is currently run off generators for the most part. Also did quite a bit of maintenance work on frozen relays for fuel pumps, which seem to either freeze in the non-contact position or slightly ice-over enough to keep the coil from sucking in (and thus not working at all).

Anyways, it's back to work and school asap when I return home (this opportunity came very unexpectedly). I have lots to catch up on here at dv.net!! No doubt some of you have been doing some awesome things out there in DV since I last checked and I am eager to dive into some good 'ol TRs.

To anyone that has sent me a message or pm or email, I apologize for not returning any of them but I had access to internet I think twice in the last 4-5 months until yesterday, and the scientists werent too interested in me using the satelite connection for too long during their work. I will do my best to reply to anything/everything in the next few days.

I have posted a couple photos of my work out here. Nothing too exciting when you are staring at nothing but ice for months but cool nonetheless (to me, at least).

I hope all of you regulars have been doing well and enjoying your trips. I believe Steve may be having a baby soon, or already had one???? I definitely need to catch up on that. Anyways, it's great to be back on here.

I hope you guys have left a few things out there for me to discover! I have a feeling you all have beaten me to everything by now!

last photo: meeting 4 star General Lichte, the man in charge of the entire pacific fleet of the U.S. Air Force. Pretty cool.

Awesome life-changing trip, Robbie. Didn't you also go to Antarctica at one time? You probably have a few e-mails stacked up in your inbox from me sounding a bit worried and hoping you were okay. Glad to hear that this was why you completely disappeared off the grid. Totally worth it.

I definitely have a few DV exclusives you may be interested in on your upcoming trip. I will post my own plans in a Trip Planning thread later today which should give you some ideas. I'm also headed back to Redwood NP shortly to try to accomplish the absolute impossible and find another certain tree.

Welcome back and it's nice to have you back. I was worried the DV community of hikers had lost you which was bad news for all of us.

Welcome back, great to know you haven't fallen off the face of the earth. Well you sort of did for a while Smile Cool to be in Greenland, sounds like quite an interesting experience! Hope you find yourself out in the desert again soon, though.

Hey Robbie , I saw your post and ran out the nearest Chilis for a frozen Margarita in your honor. Glad to see you're still here.

Robbie,
Not sure if you're aware of Reddit's 'Ask Me Anything' forum:
http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA

But your experiences would make an awesome thread over there, if you have the time & interest.
