This is why I return to Death Valley

Monday's (Labor Day - 9-3-2018) dusk dusty sunset from near the Beatty Cutoff looking over the Devil's Cornfield, Mesquite Dunes, Stovepipe Wells and Towne Pass.

The wind was blowing so hard from the southeast that I had to steady myself against a mile marker steel post to take this shot. It was another one of those fantastic Death Valley Moments, of which there are many.

Posting this at 3:30 a.m. from Stovepipe Wells underneath the lamppost so I can see what I'm doing. The free unsecured internet (SPW) is down so I'm using my iPhone 6's personal hotspot via at&t which is at four bars now.

I've got some fun trip reports and videos in the works after only two full days here and hope to add much more over the next three days.

Did I say that I love storm events in DV?

Great shot, DVD!

Trying not to envy those of you who live close enough to just drive to DV any time you want!

Yeah I have to drive 932 miles with trailer!

But back for second trip this year, in about two months.

Nice photo, loves those wind storms, from the inside of trailer.

I don't use wifi in the park, just my Att service. I do get three to four bars 3G. Slow but works for email and calls.

Cheers

I'd love for it to be only 932 miles.....2,230 miles from my house to Furnace Creek. Oh well....:)

I love that picture. I am a big fan of violent storms, and have been in a few in DV. Thanks for posting it.
