Anyone planning January lunar eclipse in DV?

Post by Death Valley Dazed » Sat Dec 29, 2018 4:39 pm

I'll do my best to get my creaky bones and camera down there. These celestial events are the best in DV!

Here's a shot I took of a full moon rise above Chloride from the Scotty's Castle Road rest stop September 2017.

I've been so busy I didn't know about this happening! So thanks for posting this.

I'll continue to be busy this month so I don't know where I'll be for this. But hopefully I'll watch it from somewhere!

Supermoon rise from Dante Peak in Nov 2016:

Wow, John, gorgeous image of Mr. Moon smiling down on us. The layers of the sky on the horizon are so warm and inviting, even though some of it smog from Las Vegas, Pahrump, or parts far and wide. I appreciate your time taken to dig up the image from your files and post it here for us to enjoy.

I'm hoping that the lunar eclipse on Jan 21st will afford an equally lovely sky!

I have not decided from what vantage point to view and shoot the eclipse from in DV. It may depend on the weather and sky clarity.
