Jean Lemoigne Songbird Serenade Centennial

Post by Death Valley Dazed » Fri Apr 12, 2019 11:59 am

The famously friendly French miner, Jean Lemoigne died one hundred years ago in 1919 at the age of 62. As a memorial to this respected gentleman, I honored Jean with a memorial hike the end of March 2019 from Emigrant to his miner's cabin up the canyon now named for him.

A pristine spring day with flowers all a bloom and birds singing in the background carried me back to the quiet days that Jean must have enjoyed when he wasn't laboring inside of his mine works. The soundtrack to this video is supplied by the same species of wild birds that kept Jean company while he lived alone. The songbird serenade followed me the entire hike and I hope that you enjoy this experience as much as I did.

Thanks, Jean wherever you are for adding such color and class to the history of Death Valley.
