Wind Farm West of Great Basin National Park

Post by Death Valley Dazed » Wed Oct 23, 2019 6:45 pm

During my last visit to Great Basin National Park during 2016, I noticed a wind farm sprawled just below and west of the park in Spring Valley. Returning home from a Labor Day Weekend visit to Death Valley 2019 I stopped by The Spring Valley Wind Farm for a peek which is just off of Highway 50, The Loneliest Highway in the country.

These impressive turbines are massive, noisy, and unfortunately death to airborne wildlife. The airspeed at the tip of these blades is quite fast. It was late in the day and I was in a hurry but thankfully I saw no dead birds or bats on the ground under the one turbine I inspected of which I took the following video.

The purpose of this video is informational only and not created to debate the pros and cons of wind energy production.
