Here's a larger picture of the rescue scene if anyone cares to speculate on location.

Considering everything going on right now and the strain on medical / emergency services, pretty poor timing to be messing around with abandoned mines. And that's about the nicest way I can think of phrasing that.

That photo credited to San Bernardino County. The article stated that Inyo and Pahrump participated. Nothing about DVNP. I speculate southermost park or east of Tecopa and Shoshone.

On Saturday, March 21, four agencies teamed up to rescue a 60-year-old Santee man who fell down a mineshaft in Death Valley early Friday, suffering severe head injuries, San Bernardino authorities said. It was not clear how far the man fell.
